Green Silicon Carbide for Grinding Wheel
Basic Introduction
Green Silicon Carbide (GC) is a high-purity artificial abrasive, fused from quartz sand and petroleum coke in high-temperature resistance furnaces.
It features extra high hardness, sharp cutting edge, good self-sharpening property and excellent chemical stability, which is the ideal raw material for vitrified, resin and rubber bonded grinding wheels.

Key Characteristics for Grinding Wheels
- Ultra-high hardness, fine and dense crystal structure
- Sharp grain, strong cutting ability, low grinding heat
- Good heat resistance, corrosion resistance and low brittleness
- Fine finish after grinding, less workpiece burn
- Uniform particle size, stable bonding with wheel binder
Main Application of Green SiC Grinding Wheel
- Hard & brittle materials
Hard alloy, ceramic, glass, stone, magnetic materials, semiconductor wafers.
- Precision grinding & finishing
Tool grinding, mould processing, internal and external cylindrical precision grinding.
- Non-ferrous metals & non-metals
Copper, aluminum, rubber, plastic, leather, optical glass.
- Special industry
Single crystal silicon, sapphire, advanced ceramic fine grinding and polishing.
Difference vs Black Silicon Carbide
- Green SiC: Higher purity, harder, finer finish, for precision grinding wheel
- Black SiC: Higher toughness, lower cost, for general metal grinding, cutting disc
Common Grain Sizes for Grinding Wheel
Coarse grain: 24# / 36# / 46# / 60#
Medium grain: 80# / 100# / 120#
Fine micro powder: 180#~1200#, used for fine grinding wheel & polishing tools
