Green Silicon Carbide GC Main Grit Standards

Grade designation for green silicon carbide: GC; grits fall into two major categories: grit grains (coarse grit) and micro‑powders (fine micro‑powders)

1. European FEPA Standard (ISO 8486, most common for Europe, Middle‑East, Southeast‑Asia foreign trade)

FEPA has two sets: F‑grit / P‑grit. Same grit designations but different particle‑size ranges, NOT interchangeable.

• F grit (for bonded abrasive tools, grinding wheels, blasting, loose grinding)：F12～F220 grit grains; F230～F2000 micro‑powders
• P grit (for coated abrasives: sandpaper, abrasive belts)：P12～P2500; P‑grit features narrower particle‑size distribution and stricter over‑size particle control

Russian market adopts GOST R 52381‑2005 (identical to FEPA); old Soviet GOST 3647‑80 (M‑series micro‑powders М5, М7, М10) occasionally appears in legacy orders from Russian‑speaking regions.

2. Japanese JIS Standard (Precision polishing, optics, semiconductor, sapphire industries, widely requested by SE‑Asia, Japanese & Korean customers)

JIS R6001, grit marked with # symbol, very fine grit classification

• Grit grains: #16, #20, #24…#220
• Micro‑powders: #240, #280, #320, #400, #600, #800, #1000, #2000, #3000, #4000, #6000, #8000, #10000; widely used for polishing powders with strict D50
