3. Core Functions in Waterborne Industrial Coatings
Greatly improve wear resistance and hardness of paint film
High-hardness SiC micropowder disperses evenly to form a wear-resistant skeleton, effectively enhancing scratch resistance, friction resistance and impact resistance.
Application: Machinery paint, steel structure paint, floor paint, equipment anticorrosive paint, etc.
Improve construction performance and rheological property
Quasi-spherical particles reduce system viscosity, improve fluidity, facilitate spraying and reduce brush marks.
Reasonable gradation of particle sizes reduces sedimentation and improves storage stability.
Enhance weather resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance
With strong chemical inertness, it features acid and alkali resistance, salt spray resistance, aging resistance and UV resistance.
High temperature resistance and low expansion make it suitable for high-temperature working conditions.
Auxiliary tinting and covering power
4. Compounding of Black Silicon Carbide + Carbon Black in Waterborne Black Coatings
- Black Silicon Carbide (SiC): Wear resistance, hardness improvement, corrosion resistance, skeleton filler.
- Carbon Black: Main tinting, high blackness, color matching and anti-settling.
Compounding Advantages
- Fuller black tone and stronger hiding power
- Dual functions of wear resistance and tinting
- Reduce floating and flooding problems easily caused by single carbon black
5. Selection & Application Guidelines for Waterborne Industrial Coatings
Recommended Grade
1000# / P1200 balances wear resistance, fineness, gloss and dispersibility, ideal for industrial topcoat and anticorrosive paint.
Requirements: Acid-washed & water-washed grade, low iron content, low free carbon, narrow particle size distribution.
Dosage
- Primer: 10%~25%
- Wear-resistant topcoat: 5%~15%
Dispersion Notes
- Fully grind with resin, dispersant and defoamer
- Control fineness to avoid coarse particles
- Prevent particle size damage caused by excessive shearing
6. Summary
- P1200: Finer particle size, smoother surface and better gloss, suitable for topcoat.
- 1000#: Slightly coarser with stronger wear resistance, suitable for heavy-duty anticorrosive primer and wear-resistant primer.
