Silicon carbide ceramic characteristics

Silicon carbide ceramic is an ideal material for manufacturing seal rings. When combined with graphite materials, its friction coefficient is smaller than ceramics and cemented carbide, and it has good self-lubricating properties. Therefore, it can be exchanged for a high PV value, extending the service life of the seal. The work efficiency is improved, especially when used in pipelines with strong acid and alkali conditions.

Silicon carbide ceramics are widely used in bulletproof armor, such as the protection of vehicles and ships, as well as the protection of civilian safes and cash transport vehicles. The ballistic performance of silicon carbide ceramics is initially estimated to be about 70% – 80% of that of boron carbide ceramics. However, due to its lower price, it is particularly suitable for applications where large quantities are used and the protective armor cannot be too thick or heavy.

There are many kinds of ceramic materials for ceramic nozzles, the most commonly used ones are silicon carbide and boron carbide ceramics. The price of ceramic nozzles is low, but due to the low hole diameter, its wear resistance is poor. It is mostly used for sandblasting workload. The usage amount of carbonized ceramics is 3 to 5 times that of ceramics. It is equivalent to cemented carbide and is mostly used as a substitute for cemented carbide. Especially used in hand-held spray gun conditions.
